  • Marine Business Leaders Outlook

NMMA has partnered with Michigan State University to develop an MLBO (Marine Business Leaders Outlook) Index to assess changing boating industry perceptions and predict future performance.

These will be based on data collected from various sectors of the recreational boating industry. At present some manufacturers and dealers have submitted figures and the 3rd Quarterly Report for 2002 is available to those who sign up to the program. Typical summaries are below.

"Manufacturer results from that report indicate their performance in 3rd quarter 2002 was somewhat better than the 2nd quarter with sales of new units slightly up. A further improvement in the 4th quarter was projected with production hours projected to increase about 16%."

"Dealer performance was not as good during the 3rd quarter over the 2nd , but better than 3rd quarter 2001. Higher sales were anticipated in the 4th quarter with new boat inventories to be slightly higher but pre-owned boat inventories lower."

To get these results on a regular basis, contact www.marineindustrysurvey.com. Obviously, the more information obtained for this survey, the more accurate the results. All data is kept confidential by the University. We urge you participate.
